It astounds me that Donald Trump has had such an impact on the US population. I don’t blame Trump and that isn’t what scares me. It’s the Americans that responded.
Americans proclaim to be the leaders in democracy, fairness, and “what is right and just in this world”. How is it that almost half don’t believe that? It isn’t a huge shock to me that Trump won in 2016. It sort of confirmed my assumptions regarding a large portion of Americans. It is a shock that many people still support Trump. A fumbling, lack-luster presidency followed by an absolute total fuck-up in managing the pandemic. How is it possible Americans still support someone when there have been 370,000 deaths (as of this morning) from Covid-19? That’s more than double any other country. Know what’s worse? That is more US lives lost than the Vietnam War, or even World War I. How’s that for a kick in the ass? More Americans have died under Trump’s watch than World War I (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_military_casualties_of_war). Only the Civil War (or the War of the States) and World War II has taken more lives. But there is still time, Covid could win it all, the death toll ain’t done yet.
Shit…
